Shield:
Uses a quarterly division
- The quarterly division denotes a rank
of importance to each of the squares. The top left square is first, top
right is second, lower left is third and lower right is fourth.
The Azure (Blue) symbolizes truth and loyalty
The Argent (Silver and White) symbolizes peace and
sincerity
The holly symbolizes truth and trust (and is Harry’s
wand wood)
The vine symbolizes strong and lasting friendship (and
is Hermione’s wand wood)
The tower/castle symbolizes steadfastness and safety
The candle symbolizes light, love, and sexuality
- The
maroon (sanguine) color symbolizes patient in battle and yet victorious.
(That’s for all of the “truly” delusionals left
out there – it might take a while, but the in the end…)
- (For this
symbol, I went a little bit outside of traditional heraldic connotations.
In heraldry the candle represents light and enlightenment, and in
traditional symbolism, the candle is associated with romantic encounters
and has phallic imagery.)
The stag symbolizes Harmony (and is Harry’s patronus)
The otter symbolizes Vivacity (and is Hermione’s patronus)
- They
are facing opposite ways to show independence, but their heads are facing
the same way to show like-mindedness and unity
Crest
The pumpkin
- symbolizes
prosperity and abundance (non-Heraldic design, but it was
appropriate)
- is
colored orange (tawny) which symbolizes admirable ambitions
The peacock feathers symbolize beauty, power, and
knowledge
- The
golden (or) color symbolizes generosity and elevation of the mind
The ring at the tip of the shield symbolizes fidelity
The columns symbolize fortitude and constancy.
The pumpkin vines add to the shield’s strong and lasting
friendship symbolism
- The
green of these leaves (as well as that of the holly and vine) symbolizes loyalty
in love
The woodbine at the top symbolizes love that does not harm the thing to which it clings. That’s
right. A testament to our hurt =/= love beliefs!
